eu Vusahm and Billy Dirt Cult released a 300 pressing split 12″ lp in december of 2003. all the recording was done in-house (literally), and the sleeves were hand silk screened. ted kim was kind enough to draw a poster for the center panel in the insert. the process ran the alaskan d.i.y. gauntlet, including: awkward recording situations, stolen shipping charges, split record boxes, subzero silk screening, extreme copy shop bills, and living room assembly line parties.

the born losers are captured here in what must have been 2002, unleashing ridiculous fury and banter upon an innocent lousacc library crowd. this is the twin guitar, cop sunglasses, fairbanks commuting, pre-portland version of the born losers, gritting their teeth and spilling through sets. recorded from the crowd on an elementary school cassette recorder.

Stubby’s Crack Co play jazzy, dirty, arty, bluesy, folky punk rock music. Folk as in “by and of the people,” not that other kind. Known for their craft fetish and indulgent live shows, they are simultaneously Anchorage’s most ambitious and least pretentious band. They’re also one of Anchorage’s longest running punk bands, and the contrast of these early recordings to their current work manifests the band’s evolution.

Oh, and sorry about the recording quality, my fault. Lots more where that came from.

someone (i suspect wrick tuna melt or trey bandade) has put up a 19 song mostly-Anchorage mp3 compilation featuring songs by early 90’s punks liquid bandade, phillipino haircut, green eggs y spam, and others. check it out, but good luck if you’re not using ie.
